GANANOQUE & THE 1000 ISLANDS
Located in the heart of the 1000 Islands, Gananoque is a vacation paradise. To the east, following the 1000 Islands Parkway, hidden treasures and breathtaking vistas await in the communities of Ivy Lea, Rockport, Hill Island and Lansdowne.
Visitors can enjoy unique exhibits at the Arthur Child Heritage Centre in the Historic 1000 Islands Village, a heritage centre located on the waterfront. The Thousand Islands Playhouse is one of the region’s most acclaimed professional theatres, featuring stage productions from May until October. And, not to be missed is Gananoque’s "Festival of the Islands", a ten day celebration of life on the River and waterfront concerts each August.
Boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving, water taxis and charters . . . there’s no better place to enjoy the water than in the 1000 Islands. Scenic one, two or three hour cruises of the 1000 Islands, including stops at famous Boldt Castle depart regularly from May to October. The St. Lawrence Islands National Park, made up of nearly two dozen beautiful islands, features nature trails, parks, beaches and island camping. In August, the 1000 Islands Poker Run comes to Gananoque and the Islands.
Gananoque is also home to the 1000 Islands Charity Casino. With over 450 slot machines and over 18 table games, the Casino makes for an exciting evening of adult entertainment.
Visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of the islands from the 1000 Islands Skydeck, a 350-foot tower located on Hill Island.
